Why Is Your Heating System Not Working?

Various issues can prompt the need for heat pump or furnace repairs, from strange noises to uneven heating or high energy bills. Serious signs include water pooling around the furnace, indicating a cracked heat exchanger that can leak deadly carbon monoxide. Rust or corrosion on the furnace may also pose dangers.

Simple problems like dirty filters, lack of power, clogged drain lines, or refrigerant issues can affect central heating. Grinding or scraping noises suggest worn-out ball bearings, while squealing indicates a loose belt. Pilot light and ignition problems are common too.

No matter the issue, contact S.O.S. Heating and Cooling for prompt diagnosis and necessary repairs.

Heat Pump System Vs. Furnace

Homeowners often ask what the difference is between a heat pump and a furnace. These units have different purposes that must be understood to determine what is wrong with the unit and how best to fix it.

Heat pumps function to heat and cool the home by transferring heat from one location to another. During the winter, the unit heats air and distributes it throughout the home. In the summer months, it cools air and disperses it to all parts of the residence.

A furnace, in contrast, heats the home when it is cold outside. As with a heat pump, this unit is connected to ductwork to distribute warm air throughout the home. However, this type of unit doesn’t cool the home during the summer months. A separate air conditioning unit is needed for that purpose.

I've used SOS several times now. Each time the experience has been seamless. The owner John is a rare breath of fresh air (no pun intended) in that he is knowledgeable and TRUSTWORTHY. SOS will continue to be my first call whenever I have HVAC issues. I would encourage others to do the same. You won't regret it.

We have had a few service calls and the service we have received has been exceptional. During our last service call, Jody was friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. He quickly determined our smart thermostat kept losing connection and would be replaced.Over the summer, our AC unit went out and needed a new motor. Since we had a previous service call in the month prior, we were not charged for our weekend service call. That team also worked quickly to resolve our issue. At our old residence, we were in need of replacement after the past homeowners failed to disclose to us that the AC unit did not work. We found out when we turned it on for the first time in the summer. I really liked the financing options SOS provided. We will use the company again when our current, aging systems will need replaced in the future.

We’ve worked with SOS Heating and Cooling to replace our water heaters and furnace and also have an annual maintenance plan with them. Jon and team are very responsive and friendly, and in my opinion, their services are priced very fairly. We had an issue with our old furnace on a freezing winter day, and they came out to help us with the repair that morning. I would highly recommend them for all your heating and cooling needs.

Heat went out. I have the SOS maintenance plan. I received a prompt reply to my voicemail and Vincent was at my house at 7:50am. He found the issue and it was fixed very quickly. He did a great job. I have been with SOS over 7 years and have never been disappointed. Thank you.
